Posada at the Juarez: A worthy follow up to the Cervantino
I didn't think to take my camera to the Juarez last Thursday because taking pictures there is against the rules, but others more savvy had a great time afterward in front of the theater where the cast members were happy to be photographed with their fans.
The show, sponsored by the Instituto de Cultura of Aguascalientes, the birthplace of the influential printmaker Jose Guadalupe Posada, was outstanding in all respects: huge fragments from Posada prints as the background, dancers in black with superimposed skeletons, three choreographers-classical, contemporary and modern, and of course Posada and La Catrina. No wonder the audience loved it. I know I did.
