Wrapping up Cervantino41 (2013)

By the time what may have been FIC's most memorable event Legends Lin came along, I was already sated and missed it. For the record, I went to several that interested me less than I expected and didn't choose a half dozen (say, the Capella Guanajuatense playing Marin Marais) that I know I would have liked.

Below are my top picks, listed by venue:

Teatro Juarez: The French pianist Pascal Roge playing with the National Symphony

Auditorio de Minas: The Endellion Quartet and Bola Negra *

Auditorio de Estado: Murmurs
Guanajuato toys in a restaurant window,
Plaza de la Paz

Teatro Cervantes: El Emperador de Atlantida

Alhondiga de Granaditas: Ballet Moiseyev

Templo de Compania: Bach's St. John's Passion, The Peking Orchestra's open rehearsal *

Teatro Principal: Kiss and Cry

Valenciana: Niyaz and Barry Douglas playing Pictures from an Exhibition: *
Cervantino strollers

Ex-hacienda San Gabriel: Maria de Medeiros

Guanajuato a la Comunidad: Daniel Viglietti's concert at Puerto de Valle

Cervantino-Off:: Verdi Ritrovato at Casa Cuatro (watch for its return engagement)

* = too different to choose

Yes, not everything went perfectly (for example the sound work at Ute Lemper's concert and why on earth aren't songs in foreign languages supertitled?), but ALL IN ALL, WHAT A BANNER YEAR!
